Nicholas looked around the small cafe with a smile. He held his cup of coffee in his palms. He could feel its warmth but it didn't make him feel any warmer. Nicholas sat at a table in a dim corner. It wasn't very busy this early in the morning. This was something he did once in a while sometimes Amaleez would wake and she would know some how that he was here and she would join him. Nicholas sighed gently as he brought the cup up to his lips. He felt the hot liquid on his lips and then gliding down his throat. Normally the heat would have burned the consumer but there wasn't much that could hurt a Night Crawler.
Nicholas looked up at the old clock on the wall. It was exactly a quarter to seven. Nicholas was out rather early today. Usually he wouldn't come to the cafe until eight or so but for some reason he had the urge to be up earlier and beat the crowds that came in around nine or ten. He continued to stare at the clock before taking another long sip of his coffee.
Nicholas looked up at a man who had just come in. He stood at the counter ordering a drink. Nicholas's eyes lingered on the man for a moment before looking away. There wasn't much to distract yourself with here. Well, for Nicholas there wasn't. He had been her so many times that he no longer found an interest in just staring at the couch by the front door that had springs poking out in random places. The owner had slyly put pillows over the springs but people moved them out of the way exposing the age of the couch. Settling back in his chair, Nicholas rested the back of his head against the orange wall. The coffee shop smelled strongly of coffee, cinnamon rolls, and chai. He wasn't fond of chai and so he tried to ignore its smell as he sat waiting for Amaleez.
