The woman was beginning to give up on this whole finding her way in this new world. Everything was different; so foreign. She hated it to be honest. Nothing was like it used to be; it wasn’t a home. Not to mention HE had left her. How could he leave her? Leave her to fend for herself when she woke up after so many years? How was she even supposed to do that? She had thought possibly be changed into a vampire would help her lack of hearing but it hadn’t. It was hopeless or at least it seemed so to her. She felt as though she would be stuck in a never ending sea of loneliness. She would never be able to hear the sounds of things so many people treasured. She couldn’t hear the birds singing in the spring. She couldn’t hear the sound of music. She could hear the sound of the rain or the thunder that follow the bright flash of lightening. It was like her world went by without any commentary then her own voice in her head.
She wasn’t even sure what the sound of her own voice sounded like to other people. But it was never meant to be she supposed. She would be stuck in this world of pictures for the rest of what she assumed would be a long life. Life was hardly worth continuing on for so many years after one had been changed; or was it? She had yet to think of a good idea on whether it would be worth it to live now. She had no idea where she was much less how this new world worked. It seemed nobody understood sign language and when she did sign they seemed to think she was just some crazy person. It was frustrating to no end! She couldn’t communicate with anyone and it seemed they couldn’t communicate with her. What was living without other people to live it with? It was hardly a life at all honestly. Or at least that was what she thought.
Although she was hardly paying attention until her feet touched asphalt making her jump back. She was glad there hadn’t been cars coming but that had always been one of her biggest fears. She couldn’t hear the cars coming, she could hear the car horns, and if it was day time she had little warning they were coming. The slight vibrations were enough to let to know that they might be there but plenty of things moved and it wasn’t like she could really feel them there. She sighed plopping down on the side of the road watching the headlights from the cars go by time and time again. It was still dark out, dark enough other crawlers were probably out, but she wouldn’t pay any mind to him if they didn’t pay any mind to her. It seemed the only sign everyone knew was the damn middle finger around here…
