Appearance:
For an Asian, or part Asian in her case, Juno is rather tall, standing at 5’ 10” and towering over even her father. Unlike her siblings, she was not lucky enough to inherit any of her Italian mother’s physical traits outside of height. Instead, she’d gotten stuck with most of her father’s genes and some other characteristics that she’s not sure about the origins of. She would not consider herself a beauty by any means, but her mother is always telling her otherwise – not that the word of your parents really count. She has the customary pale, yellow/gold tinged skin of the Chinese, as well as the narrow, wide-spaced, tilted eyes. Instead of hazel, dark brown, or any other color combinations that might result from the union of her parents, Juno has a pair of solid black orbs sitting in her sockets, just one of the peculiarities of her birth. Also, her hair is a stunning silvery white, a shade that one may expect to see on the head of an 80 or so old lady; Juno is only 22 in human years. She doesn’t mind the color, just the fact that she seems unable to cut the darn stuff. The tresses are perpetually long and whenever chopped, they grow back in another 24 hours, longer than ever. She gave up on ever getting a haircut.
Juno tends to walk around barefoot, not wearing any shoes or stockings at all, mainly because she’d never really gotten into the habit of covering her feet, but also because, as a crane, she liked to feel the water – be it underground or on the surface - beneath her bare skin. Her build also reflects that of her animal: her skeletal frame, as an Asian, was already determined to be slim and graceful, and her bird half simply added to that grace. Her legs are elongated slightly beyond normal proportions, and both her hands and feet are narrow. She wears a black silk robe, a flowing one piece garment that is meant to allow her an easier transition from human to beast without having to worry about the discarded clothes.
Animal Form and Appearance:
Red-Crown Crane
Like your typical crane really; there’s nothing unique about her animal form. There’s the usual black and white physic, lithe and graceful with a long curved neck and stick-like black legs. Her head is topped with a done of bright red feathers, a crown; hence the species’ name. The eyes are the same endless black.

Personality:
Juno is a pessimist basically. She has a habit of replying with depressing, down-heartening words and is most certainly not someone you ought to turn to when you want some encouragement before an arduous task. Her face is devoid of emotion on average days, an expressionless mask which can only be replaced by an even worse façade of dejection. Juno is one of those people who get discouraged easily. It doesn’t take much to make her feel gloomy, something that generally panics her family and anyone else around her at the time. As a child she’d never had many friends, if any at all, because she was shy and didn’t like to meet other kids. Even at age 22, Juno still exhibits some of that old, childhood timid nature from time to time. She prefers keeping to her lonesome rather than fitting into a group. A hard woman to love and she knows it well.
That was as a human. As a bird however, she’s a completely different being. With this form, she is in her element and her true feelings start to show. Underneath the desert of somberness and quietness lies an oasis of emotions reserved solely for the animals to see. In reality, Juno’s a pretty pleasant female; softer-toned, good humored, and more than willing for a bit of fun. More than anything though, she loves the air and the freedom that it gives her. She is the happiest when flying, whether alone or with a few other cranes, soaring above the clouds. It’s just unfortunate that she won’t allow for any of this side of her to show amongst civilization.
As a pacifist, Juno prefers to be the third person instead of actively getting involved in a quarrel. When she is forced to though, she will fight, but she isn’t much use in any enduring battles as she doesn’t have very good hearing and after a few moments, will often get caught blindsided. Even in scuffles, the serene mask she wears never drops, which is an added security for a time. After all, wouldn’t you find it just slightly disturbing when your opponent’s expression never changes from calm indifferent, even when she’s aiming to kill you?

Past:
Her father was a Chinese medicine man and was a crane shape-shifter like Juno; her mother was an Italian journalist on vacation in northern Cambodia when she met the man who was to be her future husband. The pair was married within two months and had their first child Kory only one year later. After him came Juno, and finally Meiji; the last two both being girls. Seeing as only one of their parents was a shape-shifter, two of the siblings did not possess any unnatural abilities and remained happily human. Juno was not so lucky. She was the only one to inherit her father’s bestial form as well as a more humanoid one. Not that she regrets it or anything; it’s turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to her. And her mother was not at all bothered that one of her daughters could turn into a wild bird at will. She’d already gotten used to her spouse’s transformations and wasn’t too surprised to find that at least one of their kids had managed to take on his peculiar genes. So, Juno grew up in a very warm household, where everyone loved one another and there was plenty of happiness to go around.
Then, you might be wondering, how on earth did she turn into such a bi-polar woman if she had such a nice living environment? Truth be told, no one really knows. Some people are just born that way and though most can be convinced out of those mindsets by loved ones, Juno’s family was not so successful with her. It was quite a relief, especially to her mother, when she saw that her middle child was only a depressing individual when she had arms; once those appendages were replaced with wings, the girl was a whole different entity. Still, it would be a worrisome problem for Julia in the years to come, watching as her precious daughter became more and more reclusive as she aged.
Seeing as Julia was a human, she grew old at the normal rate a human would’ve been expected to. Juno had to watch as her mother’s face slowly wrinkled over the ages and as her slight frame began to fold in upon itself with age, all while Juno’s own face – though she was far older than she looked – remained unlined and young. Even though Julia told her daughter not to worry about how she was getting on in years, her middle child couldn’t help but feel guilty over the deterioration of her parent. When Julia finally died in her sleep, Juno took it as her cue to leave the family. True she had her brother and sister and father, but for how much longer? How much longer until they were gone as well? Her father would live for a while yet, as he too was a shifter, but Kory and Meiji, they were human like their mother. She wasn’t about to stand by and watch as another two members of her life faded away into the dark. Without a word to anyone, Juno left in the early spring, only three weeks after they’d buried her mother.
Over the years, the homesickness she’d felt in the beginning began to dull until she could push it away into the back of her mind. Only once did she return to her home village to see how her father and siblings were doing, and it was possibly the biggest mistake she’d ever made. In the time she’d been gone, both her brother and sister had married, but theirs was not destined to be the happily-ever-after that their parents were lucky to receive. Her brother, she’d discovered, had been attacked on the streets and murdered; her sister had caught a rare sickness and passed away not long after contracting the illness. As for her father, he was still working in his medicine shop, but he’d aged as well. He was more tired looking, and his shoulders sagged where before he’d stood straight and tall. Part of it was due to the sudden loss of his entire family, another part due to the fact that he too was beginning to show his real age as he’d long passed the 65 years mark. With that parting update, Juno cut ties from her lineage for good this time and flew off to somewhere far away where she’d never so much as chance across reminders of her past.

Generally she wouldn't wander around in the middle of the night, alone, outside the city, and under a full moon no less. Her white coat was reflecting the pale silver light and shining like a beacon for any predator that was feeling hungry that night. 'Come and get me! I'm right here for all to see!' was the message. Willow sighed and shook herself gently, the movement seeming more of a shudder; she really did hate her fur, it was the cause of so much grief in her life.
After a minute or two of quiet pondering, the young German Shepherd finally started to take notice of just where it was her feet had carried her this time. The surroundings were country enough, and there was an old, abandoned barn to her left; so, this was farming land. 'Rather depressing, this landscape is. Too barren for my likings.' she thought with a yawn. Though of course, that didn't mean much, considering she lived in the city which was equally dismal and void of life - human life at least.
A willow tree loomed up into her line of vision and caught her interest. Weeping Willow, her namesake; or rather, the namesake of her namesake. A wistful smile crossed the dog's face as she padded towards the tree. The long green branches swayed in the night wind and brushed against the grass, creating a shushing sound that was a soothing lullaby to her ears. Without hesitation, Willow stepped into the canopy of green and instantly felt at home behind the curtain of leaves. She was just about to relax when the ear-splitting howl took up. Willow nearly yelped out loud as the mournful sound split the quiet air. So, she was not alone tonight in her aimless roaming. Curious as ever, the German Shepherd immediately began to seek out the source of the howling, putting her nose to the ground and sniffing intently around the willow base. She was halfway around the trunk when her paw connected with a fallen piece of bark and snapped it. 'Oh dear, now I've done it.'
Willow sighed for sure enough, her presence was demanded of by another voice. At least it sounded like another female. Poking her head around so that part of her white muzzle was showing, she replied with only a simple, "Hello, sorry to intrude."
