Appearance:
Tall, let's emphasize that right now. He's 6'7" so he usually towers over everyone else, which can make things quite difficult. Particularily when it comes to doors, since they never seem to be high enough, and he never seems to remember to duck. On top of that, he's wiry and lean, which only exaggerates his height even more. There's no visible muscles on the guy, since he didn't do much in terms of physical exertion as a human, but he can still pack a punch when he needs to. Mainly though, his strength lies in his legs.
Despite skirking around work as a youth, he did spend a good deal of time outside, so he's ended up tanned a nice light brown. He was too lazy to shave as well, so ended up with a stubble and mustache when he was Turned, both of which refuse to go away now even if he wanted to get rid of them. Which he doesn't. He rather likes having a bit of facial hair on himself, and if you don't like it, then buzz off. His hair is a dark chocolate brown, almost black at the roots, and cropped very short. It's always in a tangled mess that no amount of combing can ever flatten entirely.
Like most guys, Doug's not to picky about his clothes. He'll throw on whatever is clean and handy - and doesn't humiliate him completely - and be done with it.

Personality:
Well, what to say here? He's one of those people who never seems to take life at face-value, and is almost never serious about anything. Of course, that means that when he does get somber, you better watch out, cuz someone's about to get it, hard. The man has a pretty laid-back attitude, and it's not like he goes out of his way, looking for trouble to cause; problems just seem to find him naturally, something that annoys many of his friends. Speaking of whom, he has quite a few of them. Being extremely approachable and sociable has its perks after all.
Then again, he's not an all around good guy either. There are times when he'll simply snap - for no apparent reason - and enter one of his darker moods. During which you best leave him be if you know what's good for you. During fights, he's every bit as capable of disemboweling an enemy without batting an eyelash or thinking twice about his actions. It's at times like those, that he resembles his friend William: murderous, bloodthirsty, and completely ruled by the single instinct to hurt.
Around those he's more familiar with (and those he's just met for that matter), he turns into a complete clown. Doug's always got some cheesy joke up his sleeve, good for breaking the ice with a newly met potential-buddy, or just lightening a heavy atmosphere. He's got a quick wit, something that's saved his butt quite a few times in the past, and he uses to his advantage whenever the opportunity presents itself. All in all, your typical male.

Past:
Born in the late 1700s, Doug was originally a young British gentleman of good lineage. His father was a close friend of one of the members of Parliament, and his mother was - as society would describe it - the very image of everything a perfect lady should be. Needless to say, there were very high expectations for their first son (and guess who that lucky person was?). Ever since he could read and talk and walk, Doug has been forced to endure endless hours of tutoring on proper etiquette, following his father to his meetings when the boy was old enough to learn what there was to learn about politics, and eventually, attending a college. While away at the school, he somehow managed to get himself caught by a Crawler, while out at night and was Turned. Of course he never told his parents; that would be disastrous! And then, the revolution began.
America wanted its independence from Britain, and this daring revolt against a higher authority - and one whose military prowess were far better than their own - greatly appealed to the young vampire. So he sneaked down to France, where he joined the army, and was sent over to the new country to aid the colonies. Or states as they were calling themselves. Once there, he ran into a certain blond little bastard while they under the same commander, and immediately became good friends with him. For a time, everything was fine, but during their last battle together, William took a bullet to the chest and things got complicated.
Doug had considered Turning his friend himself, but decided that he didn't like the idea - besides, he'd never Turned anyone else before - and so, sought out another Crawler in their ranks and had that man do the job. But when William awoke with vengeance in mind, Doug had to beat it quick, or risk getting killed by the same person he'd tried to save. Years passed, and eventually, he ran into his old pal again. With the past done and forgotten about, they formed a small band of vampires, and started to wander the country aimlessly, picking up strays here and there.
A nomadic life that has no real purpose or destination; something that suited
him just fine. It was better than having to sit in a congress day in and day out, listening to self-righteous politicians argue with one another over whose policies were the best for the country. As for his family....well, he never did return to Europe, so he has no idea what became of them. Doubtless his father disowned him after realizing he was no longer at school, and his mother, being the model wife that she was, followed his lead. Not that he cares. Besides, they wouldn't be alive now, even if he had wanted to see them again, which he doesn't.
